No problem Alex...I pledge that this Toisan group will offer free Ma Jong lessons. JUST KIDDING....I cant play very well either. Though as a kid, when my folks had their ma jong parties at the house, I learned how badly smoking and beer drinking can make your house stink for a week!!

Man, I don't know how to play! I wasn't allowed to watch because my parents didn't want me to learn and become a gambler. I am so deprived!!! Maybe with this group, I will be allowed to watch and learn.

Hey...serious question for everyone....who would be interested to play some Ma Jong?? If there is enough interest, we can do that with another meetup group at my place....think of the Cantonese bonding over food, drinks and a couple of MJ tables!!!!! woohoo!!

Who attended?

    •  It was a good meeting. I had fun. It was great to meet other Toisan enthusiast.
    •  There are many Toishan people living in CHINATOWN, San Gabriel, Alhambra, and Monterey Park. May be you want to hold a meetup in that area to get more Toishanese to join us.
    •  I might be biased, but it turned out the way I had imagined...friendly company, exchange of many business cards, good conversation, lots of laughing, good food, building of good healthy friendships, hilarious Toisanese childhood memories, and some "Show and Tell" of a recent Toisan trip photos. All in all, I was very pleased and encouraged by the good turnout. I want to give a special THANK YOU to Di for bringing 2 guests!! Thank you V and J for joining us!! Thanks to all of you for hanging out, we will definitely see each other again...I Hope!! Mahjong Or Bust will be our new rally cry!!!!
    •  What can I say but "WOW!" If my parents heard me uttered what I said tonight they would have thought I was someone else. I couldn't believe it either - I actually busted out some Toisan/Cantonese. "Heck Faan Ah!!!"
    • Diane (+2 guests)
No real complaints... It was pretty good & affordable! It reminds me of Sam Woo for some unknown reason...
