Come join us for our first ever 'study group' gathering!!
Who should come:
-- Beginning and intermediate Cantonese speakers who want more structured activities to help improve their fluency.
-- Intermediate and fluent Cantonese speakers who like teaching and want to help others learn to speak Cantonese better.
What we'll be doing:
-- The theme for the gathering will be 'Talking about Family'.
-- Potential topics for vocabulary and dialogue practice include: terms for different family members, describing characteristics of yourself or your family members (e.g., country of origin, age, gender, birth order, occupation), describing your living situation (married? kids? housemates?), etc..
What you should bring:
-- Your Cantonese dictionaries, phrase books, language textbooks, flash cards, or anything else you think would be helpful.
-- I will also bring/plan a couple of activities to get us started. Feel free to bring/plan or suggest your own activity ideas or future themes as well.
Afterwards:
-- For this first gathering, we'll plan to have 'study group' for about an hour. Then if folks are interested, we'll head out into Chinatown to grab a quick dinner and have some time for socializing and more informal conversation practice.
-- If you would like to join us for just the dinner, come meet us at the China Trade Center around 7pm, or call my cell ([masked]) to find out what restaurant we're at.
Note: The China Trade Center is located directly across the street from the Registry of Motor Vehicles in Chinatown (Chinatown stop on Orange Line). There are some businesses in the Center, but it should be fairly quiet at the tables on the lower level where we'll be meeting. There are no public restrooms.
